The Sugar Valley / Hayward Temperature Module (T-OPTION) is an add-on temperature sensor designed for use with Sugar Valley and Hayward salt chlorination systems, including the Oxilife NG, Hidrolife, and Aquarite ranges. It provides real-time water temperature monitoring and enables the chlorinator to automatically adjust chlorine production based on the current pool temperature — a feature known as smart mode.

Because chlorine demand rises significantly with water temperature, the temperature module allows the system to produce more disinfectant on hot days and scale back automatically in cooler conditions. This prevents both under-dosing (which risks water quality) and over-dosing (which wastes product and irritates swimmers). The module simply plugs into the existing chlorinator unit and requires no additional wiring or configuration beyond initial setup.

Automatic chlorine adjustment based on temperature

Without a temperature sensor, chlorinators operate at a fixed output percentage set by the user. With the T-OPTION installed, the system continuously reads the actual water temperature and adjusts production dynamically. This is especially useful in climates where pool temperatures vary significantly through the season — ensuring consistent, safe water chemistry without manual intervention.

Remote monitoring via Poolwatch app

When combined with a Wi-Fi module, the current water temperature is visible in real time through the Poolwatch app (iOS & Android), allowing you to monitor your pool conditions remotely. Temperature data is also used to optimise filtration schedules when the system is configured with pump control.
