The HI763133 is a four-ring conductivity (EC) electrode with a built-in temperature sensor, terminated in a Quick DIN connector on a 1.5 metre cable. It is the standard measuring probe for the Hanna Instruments HI98192 portable EC/TDS/resistivity/salinity meter and is used for checking conductivity and total dissolved solids in pool circulation water, make-up water and filter backwash lines. The four-ring design keeps readings stable across a wide conductivity range without the polarisation errors typical of two-pole cells.

What it fits

This probe is designed for the Hanna Instruments HI98192 portable meter, which recognises the sensor through the Quick DIN connection. The integrated temperature sensor supplies the meter with data for automatic temperature compensation, so no separate temperature probe is needed. It is not intended for use with two-pole EC meters or with instruments that do not accept the Quick DIN connector.

Connection and use

Push the Quick DIN plug into the socket on the top of the meter and turn to lock; the meter reads the sensor type automatically. Immerse the probe far enough that all four rings and the temperature sensor are fully covered, and tap gently to release trapped air bubbles. Calibrate with the appropriate Hanna conductivity standard before a measuring session and rinse with deionised water between samples.

Service life

Electrode life depends on how often the probe is used and how aggressive the water is; heavy chlorination, scale and oils all shorten it. Replace the probe when calibration drifts, when readings become slow or unstable after cleaning, or if the sleeve, rings or cable show visible damage. Regular rinsing after each measurement and storage in a dry sleeve significantly extend usable life.

Ordering notes

Sold individually as a replacement probe; the meter, calibration solutions and carrying case are not included. Check that your instrument is the HI98192 before ordering, as other Hanna EC meters use different probe references. Order the matching conductivity standards separately so the new probe can be calibrated on arrival.
