This is the genuine Davey replacement thyristor for the ProMatic ESC 36 salt-water chlorinator control unit. The thyristor is a critical power-switching semiconductor that regulates the DC current delivered from the transformer to the electrolytic cell, governing chlorine output and, on reverse-polarity models, managing the polarity-inversion cycle. It is typically replaced when the unit shows erratic chlorine production, loss of polarity reversal, or fails electrical diagnostic checks on the power board.

This thyristor is specifically designed for the Davey ProMatic ESC 36 salt chlorinator — part of the ProMatic ESC series (also marketed under the Monarch Pool Systems brand in Europe). It is not interchangeable with thyristors listed for other ESC capacities (ESC 16, ESC 24, ESC 48) or for the ESR range, which use separate part numbers. Always confirm your exact model designation before ordering.

As a current-handling component operating in a demanding pool-chemical environment, fitting a non-genuine thyristor risks premature failure, incorrect current regulation, and potential damage to the PCB or electrolytic cell. Using an authentic Davey part ensures the component is matched to the ESC 36’s transformer output and control-board specifications, protecting your investment and keeping your warranty position intact. Note: this part is available while stock lasts and may not be reordered once depleted.

Thyristor replacement involves live mains-voltage circuitry inside the chlorinator enclosure and must be carried out by a suitably qualified electrician or authorised pool technician. Always disconnect the unit from the mains supply before opening the housing. Refer to the official Davey ProMatic ESR/ESC service documentation for torque values, wiring references, and post-installation test procedures.
