This is the genuine Davey replacement union nut (part number 1571) for the EcoSalt SC Max and SC Max Plus salt water chlorinator series. It forms the threaded locking collar of the barrel union assembly that secures the electrolytic cell into the pool return-line pipework, creating a watertight, tool-free connection. It is typically replaced when the nut cracks, strips, or leaks due to age, UV exposure, or repeated cell-removal cycles for cleaning.

Designed exclusively for the Davey EcoSalt SC Max and SC Max Plus (ECO-matic SCMax) commercial and semi-commercial salt water pool chlorinating systems. This nut is specific to the SCMax cell union; it is not interchangeable with union nuts from other Davey chlorinator series such as the EcoSalt 2 or Nipper. Always confirm your chlorinator model before ordering.

Davey’s own installation documentation stresses the importance of using only genuine ECO-matic replacement parts on these systems. A correctly fitting OEM union nut ensures a leak-free seal against the cell o-rings, maintains safe cell retention under operating pressure, and preserves the validity of your chlorinator warranty. Non-genuine or incorrect nuts risk leaks, cell misalignment, and potential hydrogen gas hazards.

Before removing the existing union nut, switch off the power supply to prevent the pump activating while the cell is out of line. Unscrew the union nut to release the cell, swap the nut, and hand-tighten firmly against the union tail and o-ring — no tools required for reassembly. Apply thread-seal tape to any threaded fittings as recommended in the Davey SCMax installation guide to ensure a watertight joint.
