This is the genuine Zodiac replacement set of two traction motors for the Vortex 3 and Vortex 4 robotic pool cleaners. Each motor drives one side of the robot’s wheel system, providing the independent left/right propulsion that allows the cleaner to navigate the pool floor, climb walls and change direction. Sold as a matched pair, this kit replaces the original single-unit reference W1890A.

Function and role in the drivetrain

The traction motors are the mechanical heart of the Vortex drive system. Operating at low DC voltage supplied through the floating cable, they convert electrical energy into rotational torque that is transmitted via drive shafts to the front and rear wheels. Independent control of the left and right motors by the control unit enables differential steering, allowing the robot to reverse, pivot and systematically cover every area of the pool.
