The Water-ID Alkalinity-M tablets are photometer-grade reagents designed to measure total alkalinity (m-alkalinity / acid capacity / bicarbonate buffering) in pool and spa water. Each pack contains 100 individually blistered tablets, giving you a reliable long-term supply of one of the most important routine pool tests. Compatible with the Water-ID PoolLab 1.0 photometer only.

Why Total Alkalinity Matters

Total alkalinity is your pool water’s pH buffer — it determines how well the water resists sudden swings in pH caused by chemicals, rain, or heavy bather load. The recommended range is 80–120 ppm; levels below 80 ppm cause rapid, unpredictable pH fluctuations and corrosive water that damages equipment and irritates swimmers, while levels above 120 ppm lead to cloudy water, scaling on surfaces, and sluggish chemical response. Measuring alkalinity regularly is the foundation of balanced water chemistry.

How to Use

Fill the PoolLab 1.0 sample cell with pool water, add one Alkalinity-M tablet, and insert the cell into the photometer. The instrument reads the colour reaction and displays the result in mg/l (ppm) across a measurement range of 0–200 mg/l. The pre-dosed single-use tablet format eliminates guesswork and guarantees consistent, reproducible results every time. Retest whenever pH proves difficult to stabilise or after significant chemical additions, rain events, or heavy pool use.
