It seats around the cooling fan impeller on the rear of the pump motor, maintaining the correct radial clearance between the fan blades and the motor casing to ensure efficient motor cooling during pump operation.

What this fan impeller ring does in the Freeflo Racer

The Freeflo Racer uses a TEFC (totally enclosed fan-cooled) motor in a mono-block design. The fan impeller ring forms the fixed shroud around the rotating cooling fan at the rear of the motor. Without it correctly seated, the fan loses directional airflow efficiency, the motor runs hotter, and thermal cut-out events or premature winding failure follow. Replacing this ring restores the designed cooling geometry and protects the motor from heat damage.

Switch off and isolate the pump at the mains before any work. Remove the rear motor end-cover (typically two to four screws), lift out the old ring, and press the replacement into its locating groove until it seats flush. Refit the end-cover, restore power, and verify the motor runs quietly through a full start cycle. The job takes under fifteen minutes and requires only a Phillips or flathead screwdriver.
