This is the genuine OEM locking hook that retains the filter kit securely inside the Dolphin Supreme M5 robotic pool cleaner. It clips into the filter housing and holds the filter assembly in its seated position throughout the cleaning cycle, preventing it from shifting or ejecting under suction pressure.

The hook engages a mating catch on the filter kit frame and keeps the entire filter assembly locked against the flow path. Without a functioning hook, the filter kit can unseat during operation, bypassing filtration and allowing debris back into the pool. Replace it as soon as you notice the filter moving freely when the lid is closed or the hook feels slack, cracked, or no longer snaps positively into place.

Part 9980753 fits a broad range of Dolphin models that share the same M4-series filter bay architecture: Supreme M4, Supreme M5, Liberty, Wave 65, Wave 90, M3, Bio, Oasis Z5, Oasis Z5i, C3, C4, M400, M500, Triton Plus, Odyssey, Sigma, Aquarius XL, Nautilus CC Supreme, Wave 60, and Wave 80. Always cross-reference your unit’s part diagram before ordering if you are not working on the Supreme M5.

The hook is a small polymer clip subject to repeated flexing every time you service the filter. Look for visible cracks at the pivot point, a hook tip that no longer springs back fully, or a filter kit that rattles inside the closed lid. If the Dolphin is returning fine debris to the pool despite a clean filter, an unseated filter kit caused by a failed hook is one of the first things to check.

Open the top access hatch and remove the filter kit. The old hook unclips or unscrews from the filter housing — no special tooling required. Press or clip the new hook into position, reinstall the filter kit, and verify it latches firmly before closing the lid. The entire swap takes under five minutes.
