This page provides the full exploded-view diagram and bill of materials for the Davey Starflo Variable Speed Drive Pump, covering both CE models in the range: the DSF250VSCE (1.2 hp / 900 W multi-speed) and the DSF420VSCE (2.2 hp / 1,650 W). The Starflo VS is specifically designed to circulate swimming pool water for filtration and sanitisation efficiently, and can also be used for large swim spas, plunge pools, and solar pool heating. The range supports installations with both 50 mm and 63 mm PVC connections, which is reflected in the two variants listed at position 1 of the diagram. Every numbered position in the diagram below maps directly to a row in the parts list, so you should be able to identify your part and its SKU within minutes.

Start by locating the area of the pump where the fault or wear has occurred — for example, the wet end, the motor end, or the variable speed drive (VSD) enclosure — then scan visually across the diagram until you find the call-out number that points to your component. Each number in the diagram corresponds to exactly one row (or, in a few cases, one pair of rows) in the parts list below. Once you have the position number, move to the parts list, confirm the description matches what you are holding, and note the SKU; that is the reference you will use to add the item to your basket. Be aware that position 1 appears twice in the list — this is not an error: it covers two different barrel union sizes (50 mm, SKU 33151SP, and 63 mm, SKU 33152SP), so you must choose the size that matches your existing pipework before ordering. Similarly, position 9 (impeller) and position 15 (VSD complete) and position 19 (drive module) each carry two SKUs — one for the DSF250VSCE and a different one for the DSF420VSCE — so always cross-reference your model reference before selecting. If you are unsure which model you have, check the data label on the motor housing; the full factory reference (e.g. DSF250VSCE or DSF420VSCE) is printed there. When a single call-out number covers more than one variant, the parts list rows are ordered smallest to largest or lower model to higher model, making it straightforward to scroll to the correct line.

The wet end of the pump — the section that handles water — groups together positions 1 through 8 and position 11. The barrel union assembly at position 1 (SKUs 33151SP / 33152SP) forms the inlet and outlet connections to your pipework and is one of the most commonly replaced items after years of thermal cycling. The pump lid assembly (pos. 3, SKU 33154SP) and its dedicated O-ring (pos. 4, SKU 403131SP) provide access to the strainer basket (pos. 5, SKU 403130SP), which should be inspected and cleared regularly to protect flow rates. The casing (pos. 6, SKU 404213) houses the hydraulic components, and its sealing O-ring at position 11 (SKU 402824) should always be renewed any time the casing is disturbed. Inside the wet end, the diffuser and O-ring assembly (pos. 8, SKU 33155SP) directs water flow from the impeller, while the corrosion-resistant noryl impeller at position 9 (SKU 33167SP for the DSF250VSCE; SKU 33169SP for the DSF420VSCE) is the primary rotating component. The silicon carbide mechanical seal at position 10 (SKU 402823SP) sits between the wet end and the motor, preventing water ingress along the shaft, and is a routine service item. Towards the motor end, the pump cover (pos. 12, SKU 403139), motor flange (pos. 13, SKU 403141SP), and base assembly (pos. 14, SKU 403159SP) form the structural interface between the hydraulic and electrical sections of the pump. The variable speed drive assembly occupies positions 15 through 21 and includes the VSD complete unit (pos. 15), VSD cover (pos. 16, SKU 404219SP), controller (pos. 17, SKU 404220SP), filter module (pos. 18, SKU 404221SP), and drive module (pos. 19), with cooling managed by the fan (pos. 20, SKU 403152) and fan cowl (pos. 21, SKU 404218).

Three positions in this diagram — pos. 1 (barrel unions), pos. 9 (impeller), pos. 15 (VSD complete), and pos. 19 (drive module) — each have two distinct SKUs, and selecting the wrong one will result in a part that either will not fit or will not perform correctly. For the barrel unions at position 1, the determining factor is your existing pipe diameter: the range supports 50 mm and 63 mm PVC connections, so measure your pipework before ordering SKU 33151SP (50 mm) or SKU 33152SP (63 mm). For the impeller (pos. 9), VSD complete unit (pos. 15), and drive module (pos. 19), the split is purely by pump model — DSF250VSCE or DSF420VSCE — because the power ratings differ significantly between the two and the components are not interchangeable. When ordering O-rings such as those at positions 4, 7, and 11, note that each is listed individually rather than in a multipack; if you are servicing the full wet end in one visit, it is worth ordering all three at the same time to avoid a return trip for a missed seal.
