Housed in a compact IP55-rated enclosure measuring 170 × 120 × 80 mm, this digital frost protection control unit monitors ambient air temperature and forces filtration to run automatically whenever temperatures threaten to drop below freezing — overriding the existing filter clock to keep pipework, pumps, and filtration media safe. It operates on standard 230 VAC single-phase supply and ships with a 1.5 m temperature probe ready to install.

Automatic frost detection & override

The unit continuously reads the external temperature probe and, once the air temperature falls below the user-adjustable trigger point, compels the filtration pump to start regardless of the programmed filtration schedule. This forced-run mode prevents standing water from freezing in pipework, valves, and filter vessels without any manual intervention — particularly valuable during overnight temperature drops or when the property is unoccupied.

Compliance & enclosure protection

The switchgear meets European standards EN 60439-1 and EN 60439-3, along with the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (2004/108/EC) and the Low Voltage Directive (2006/95/EC). The white polycarbonate-style enclosure is rated IP55, making it suitable for installation in pool plant rooms and technical shelters where humidity and occasional water spray are unavoidable.

Probe & wiring

An air-temperature probe with a 1.5 m cable is included, allowing the sensor to be positioned outside or in the equipment shelter to give an accurate reading of ambient conditions. Electrical connection is straightforward, integrating with the existing filtration timeclock via a forced-start contact so the unit can be added to most conventional pool installations without rewiring the entire control circuit.
