This is the genuine Flotide/MEGA replacement compressor crankcase heating belt for the Flotide/MEGA Inverter heat pump (Type Xp20Csie). Rated at 230V / 35W with a 320mm belt length and an 8×4 plug connector, it wraps around the lower compressor shell to maintain a stable temperature during standby and off-cycle periods. This prevents refrigerant from migrating into the compressor oil, protecting the unit from liquid slugging and bearing damage at the next start-up.

Pool heat pumps are installed outdoors and regularly sit idle in cold conditions. During these off periods, refrigerant can migrate to the compressor crankcase and dilute the lubricating oil. When the compressor restarts, this causes liquid slugging and abnormal mechanical stress that can lead to premature failure. The crankcase heating belt keeps the compressor above the refrigerant saturation temperature so that oil remains uncontaminated and every start-up is smooth and stress-free.

This part is designed specifically for the Flotide/MEGA Inverter heat pump, Type Xp20Csie. Always verify the model designation and connector type of your unit before ordering. Using a correctly rated belt — matched in voltage, wattage, and length — is essential; incorrect sizing can result in inadequate heating or compressor damage.

Disconnect power to the heat pump completely before starting work. Wrap the belt securely around the lower section of the compressor shell, ensuring firm, even contact with the surface, then connect via the 8×4 plug connector according to the unit’s wiring diagram. The heater is typically energised automatically whenever the compressor is off. Installation should be carried out by a qualified HVAC or pool technician.
