Profec PVC & ABS Cleaner 1 L – Pre-Treatment for Optimal Solvent-Weld Adhesion
This 1-litre tin of Profec PVC & ABS Cleaner is a dedicated pre-cleaning solvent formulated to prepare pipe and fitting surfaces before solvent cementing. By removing grease, dirt, moisture and surface oxidation from both PVC-U and ABS substrates, it ensures the cement can penetrate the material evenly and form a strong, leak-free molecular bond. The formula is THF-free (tetrahydrofuran-free), reducing solvent odour on site and improving handling safety compared with traditional THF-containing cleaners.
Correct surface preparation is the single most important step in achieving a reliable solvent-weld joint. Applying this cleaner with the supplied or a dedicated brush before cementing softens the outer layer slightly, maximises cement contact area and significantly lowers the risk of joint failure caused by contamination. It is suitable for use across pool pipework, irrigation mains, industrial pipework and any other PVC-U or ABS pressure system where solvent-weld fittings are used.
