This is the genuine Davey replacement Variable Speed Drive (VSD) module for the StarFlo VS DSF420VSCE pool pump — the 2.2 hp, 1650 W model in Davey’s European StarFlo VS range. The drive module is the core electronic inverter assembly that regulates motor speed, enabling the pump to operate across its full variable speed range. It is typically replaced when the pump displays electronic fault codes, loses speed control, or fails to start due to drive-side failure rather than a mechanical fault.

This drive module is designed exclusively for the Davey StarFlo VS DSF420VSCE — the 2.2 hp variable speed pump built for European markets with 50 mm and 63 mm PVC barrel union connections. It is not interchangeable with the smaller DSF250VSCE model or any single-speed StarFlo variants. Always verify your pump’s model label before ordering.

The VSD module controls the motor’s operating frequency and voltage, allowing the pump to run at any speed between 450 and 2,900 rpm across four pre-set speed settings with adjustable daily scheduling. It also powers the digital control interface that displays pump speed, theoretical flow rate, and energy consumption. A faulty drive module can cause complete loss of variable speed function, error codes on the display, or a pump that runs only at a fixed speed or not at all.

As an OEM-matched component, this genuine Davey part ensures full electronic compatibility with the DSF420VSCE’s motor windings, control board firmware, and protection circuitry. Aftermarket alternatives risk mismatched torque curves, void remaining pump warranty, and may not support the pump’s programmed operating modes such as auto, priming, and boost/superchlorination. Replacement should be carried out by a qualified pool technician or electrician.
