This is the genuine OEM PVC piston seal designed for the Starway motorized automatic backwash valve in the 63 mm pipe diameter version. It seals the piston assembly inside the valve body, maintaining hydraulic integrity as the valve switches between filtration and backwash positions. Replacing a worn or damaged piston seal restores leak-free valve performance and prevents cross-flow between flow paths.

Compatibilità

This piston seal fits the Starway motorized 5-way automatic backwash valve with 63 mm pipe connections. The Starway valve is designed for automated reverse flushing of swimming pool sand filters and is available in both 50 mm and 63 mm variants — always confirm your valve’s pipe diameter before ordering. It is not compatible with the 50 mm Starway valve variant.

The Starway valve operates at up to 2 bar working pressure, cycling between filtration and backwash positions under full hydraulic load. A genuine PVC piston seal is manufactured to exact dimensional tolerances for the Starway valve bore, ensuring a reliable pressure-tight fit. Third-party seals may differ in durometer or geometry, risking premature failure or internal leakage that can compromise filter performance or result in unintended water discharge to drain.

Installazione

Installation requires the pump to be switched off and the system depressurised before the piston assembly is removed from the valve body. The seal must be correctly seated and aligned on the piston before reassembly. Lubricate with a silicone-based lubricant only — never petroleum-based products — and verify there are no leaks at system restart. Work by a qualified pool technician is strongly recommended.
