What this cable holder does in the Dolphin

The cable holder locates the power cable against the motor unit cover, stopping it from twisting or pulling against the Amphenol-style connector during the robot’s climbs and turns. Without a secure holder, repeated cable movement works the connector loose, eventually causing intermittent power loss or water ingress at the entry point. This small part carries a disproportionate amount of responsibility for the reliability of the electrical connection.

Signs it needs replacing

Inspect the holder if you see the cable drooping or rotating freely against the robot body — it should sit snug with no play. A cracked, split, or deformed holder lets the cable swing and introduces bending stress at the connector root. In severe cases this leads to a broken conductor wire right at the entry point, an expensive fault that the holder is designed to prevent.

How to install it

No special tools are required. Remove the motor unit cover to access the cable entry area, unclip or unscrew the old holder, seat the replacement, and refit the cover. The job takes under ten minutes and does not require draining the pool or disconnecting any internal wiring.
