This genuine Davey spare part (M1576) is the barrel union reducing tail that steps down the 80mm cell body port of the ProMatic MPS50 salt water chlorinator to a standard 50mm pipe connection. Supplied and fitted in pairs, it forms the critical plumbing interface between the larger MPS50 electrolytic cell and the pool’s return pipework. It is the correct replacement when the original tail becomes cracked, warped, or begins to leak at the union joint.

This reducing tail is designed exclusively for the Davey ProMatic MPS50 (including the MPS50CE variant) salt water chlorinator. It is not interchangeable with the smaller MPS16, MPS24, or MPS36 models, which use different port dimensions. Always verify your chlorinator model number before ordering.

Davey’s genuine replacement tails are manufactured to the precise tolerances required for a leak-free barrel union seal on the MPS50 cell body. Off-brand alternatives may differ in thread pitch or outer diameter, leading to weaker joints and potential water or gas leakage at the union — a safety concern in any chlorinator installation. Fitting genuine parts also helps preserve your Davey warranty.

The MPS50 uses two reducing tails per installation — one on the inlet and one on the outlet of the electrolytic cell. The tail threads into the 80mm barrel union nut and connects to the 50mm pool pipework. Installation should be carried out by a qualified pool technician in accordance with Davey’s installation and operating instructions.
