The HI740031 is the factory replacement battery for Hanna Instruments amplified pH and ORP electrodes. Amplified electrodes carry their own power source inside the electrode body to boost the raw millivolt signal before it travels down the cable, and this battery supplies that internal amplifier. It is a standard consumable within the Hanna electrode and probe accessory range used on commercial pool measuring and dosing installations.

This battery is intended for Hanna Instruments electrodes of the amplified pH and ORP type, which house a small power source in the electrode head or body. It is not used with standard non-amplified electrodes, which draw their signal directly from the meter or controller. Check your electrode model or existing battery before ordering to confirm the amplified version is installed.

The battery is located inside the electrode housing behind the removable cap or compartment cover, depending on the electrode model. Disconnect the electrode from the meter or controller before opening the compartment, and keep the connector and cable entry dry throughout. Refit the cover securely so the housing remains sealed against pool-room humidity and splash.

Service life depends on how much the electrode is powered and how it is stored between measurements. Typical symptoms of a flat battery are drifting readings, a weak or dead signal, or a meter that no longer stabilises on a known buffer or ORP standard. Replace the battery before assuming the electrode itself has failed, and always re-calibrate the electrode after fitting a new one.

This part number covers the battery only; no electrode, cable, connector or calibration solution is included. Order it alongside buffer or ORP test solution if the electrode will be re-calibrated at the same time. Keeping one spare on the shelf avoids downtime on a controller that relies on a single amplified probe.
