Poolstar Freeflo Racer filtration pump strainer pot lid o-ring

This is the OEM rubber o-ring that seats between the strainer pot lid and the pump body on the Poolstar Freeflo Racer filtration pump. It creates the airtight, watertight seal that keeps the pump primed and prevents air ingestion or water leakage around the strainer pot lid during operation.

What this o-ring does in the Freeflo Racer

The strainer pot lid o-ring sits in the machined groove around the rim of the strainer pot. When you tighten the lid, the o-ring compresses to form a pressure-resistant seal. Without a serviceable o-ring in place, the pump loses prime, draws air into the wet end, and filtration performance drops immediately. A failed o-ring is one of the most common causes of air bubbles returning through the pool return jets.

Which Freeflo Racer models it fits

This o-ring is confirmed to fit the Pentair Freeflo pump — the filtration pump platform on which the Poolstar Freeflo Racer range is based. Verify your pump model against your parts diagram before ordering, as Freeflo pump variants across different production years may use different o-ring profiles.

Signs it needs replacing

Replace this o-ring if you see air bubbles returning through the pool jets, if the pump repeatedly loses prime, or if you spot moisture or water weeping around the strainer pot lid. Visible flattening, cracking, or tackiness on the o-ring itself are also clear indicators. Do not wait until the seal fails completely — a degraded o-ring allows air into the impeller housing, which can cause the pump to run dry and accelerate wear on the mechanical seal.

How to install it

Switch off the pump and release system pressure before opening the strainer pot. Remove the old o-ring, clean the groove thoroughly to remove any rubber residue or scale, then apply a thin film of pool-grade silicone lubricant to the new o-ring. Seat it evenly into the groove without twisting or stretching it, refit the lid, and hand-tighten. Restart the pump and check around the lid for any sign of weeping. The whole job takes under five minutes.
