This is the genuine Maytronics basic filter protector (protector filtro basic) for the Dolphin Pool Up CB robotic pool cleaner. It is a semi-transparent plastic screen that sits inside the bottom lid assembly, acting as a first-pass barrier that shields the main filter media from large debris, protecting it from premature clogging or damage. Keeping this protector in good condition is essential for maintaining the robot’s filtration efficiency and suction performance.

The filter protector is a single-piece, rectangular plastic screen arranged in three sections — a flat base and two side panels with a slightly curved top edge. Retention tabs at each end of the base lock it securely into the bottom lid assembly. By pre-filtering coarse debris such as leaves and twigs before they reach the finer filter media, it extends the service life of the filter and keeps water flow unrestricted throughout the cleaning cycle.

This part is designed for the Dolphin Pool Up CB, an above-ground and small inground pool robot built for straightforward drop-and-go operation. It is a compact, lightweight cleaner that cleans both the floor and walls without requiring programming or connection to the pool’s plumbing system. Always verify your robot’s exact model and serial number before ordering to ensure a correct fit.

Replace this part if you notice cracks, warping, or broken retention tabs on the plastic screen; if debris is bypassing the protector and reaching the filter media directly; or if the bottom lid assembly no longer closes flush. A damaged protector allows grit and sharp debris to abrade the filter fabric, shortening its service life significantly.

Genuine Maytronics parts are manufactured to exact factory tolerances, ensuring that the screen snaps securely into the lid assembly without gaps that would allow debris to bypass filtration. Non-genuine alternatives may be made from lower-grade plastics that warp in pool water or crack under regular use, ultimately costing more in repeated replacements and potential damage to the main filter. Using genuine parts also preserves any applicable warranty on the robot.
