Urea enters pool water primarily through bather sweat and other human metabolites, and is recognised as the main precursor to trichloramine — the compound responsible for the characteristic eye and skin irritation associated with poorly managed pools. Monitoring urea is a key water-hygiene indicator, with recommended limits typically set at ≤ 3.5 mg/L; elevated levels signal that the bather load relative to fresh-water replacement has become excessive and corrective action is needed.

Compatibilidad

These Urea Pretreat tablets are formulated exclusively for use with the Water-ID PoolLab 2.0 photometer, which can measure up to 24 different pool water parameters. They must be used in conjunction with the corresponding Urea colorimetric reagent tablets as part of the full urea test procedure; they are not standalone test tablets and are not compatible with the PoolLab 1.0 or any other photometer model.

Usage

Follow the urea test method described in the PoolLab 2.0 user manual: add a Urea Pretreat tablet to the water sample in the designated cuvette chamber first, allow it to dissolve fully, then proceed with the main urea reagent tablet and run the measurement on the photometer. Each pack contains 50 pretreat tablets, sufficient for up to 50 individual urea test cycles.
