The Water-ID PL Urea 1 is a 4 ml liquid reagent — the first of a two-part reagent set — used to measure urea concentration in swimming pool and spa water with the PoolLab 1.0 or PoolLab 2.0 photometer. Each bottle delivers 50 precise, photometer-grade tests, giving pool operators and technicians reliable, objective readings free from colour-matching guesswork.

Why Urea Monitoring Matters

Urea enters pool water naturally through bather sweat, urine, and skin contact, and is the primary nitrogen contaminant introduced by swimmers. When urea accumulates above recommended limits (generally ≤ 3.5 mg/L), it reacts with chlorine to form trichloramine and other disinfection by-products that cause skin irritation, eye discomfort, and respiratory issues for bathers. Because chlorine degrades urea very slowly on its own, routine photometric testing is the only reliable way to know when dilution or water replacement is required.

Compatibilidad

This reagent is part of the official Water-ID reagent range and is fully compatible with both the PoolLab 1.0 and PoolLab 2.0 photometers. It must be used together with the companion Urea 2 reagent (SKU: POL2Urea2) to complete each urea test. Results can be logged, tracked, and shared via the free LabCOM app and cloud platform.

Cómo utilizarlo

Add the water sample to the photometer cuvette, introduce the measured dose of Urea 1 liquid reagent (followed by Urea 2 as directed), then place the cuvette in the PoolLab and select the Urea parameter. The photometer analyses the colour reaction and displays the urea concentration in mg/L within seconds. Replace the reagent bottle once all 50 tests have been used or before the printed expiry date to ensure continued accuracy.
