This is the complete OEM mechanical seal for the Kripsol Koral, Caribe, Epsilon, and Ondine pool pump families. It sits between the motor shaft and the pump volute, creating a dynamic, water-tight barrier that prevents pool water from tracking along the shaft into the motor bearing housing. Without a serviceable seal, water ingress destroys the motor from the inside.

The seal comprises two precision-lapped faces — one rotating with the shaft, one stationary in the pump body — held in constant contact by spring pressure. This face-contact design tolerates the continuous rotation of the impeller shaft at 2,850 RPM while blocking pressurised water at up to 2.5 bar. The AISI 316 stainless steel construction of the Koral pump’s seal interface means the assembly resists both standard chlorine chemistry and salt-chlorination environments.

This complete seal is confirmed to fit the Kripsol Koral (KS and KSE series), Caribe, Epsilon, and Ondine pump families — the full range sharing the same pump-end architecture. Verify your pump’s model plate before ordering; not all Kripsol pump lines share the same shaft diameter or seal seat diameter.

The clearest indicator is a persistent water drip from the weep hole on the underside of the pump body, directly beneath the motor face — this is the seal’s designed drain point and it will run steadily once the faces are worn or scored. You may also notice the motor running hotter than normal, vibration on startup, or a faint grinding noise under load as a damaged seal allows shaft wobble. Do not confuse a weeping seal with a leaking pre-filter lid O-ring; the location of the drip tells you which part has failed.

Drain and isolate the pump, then remove the four motor-body bolts to separate the motor from the volute. Slide the old rotating face off the shaft — a circlip or slinger washer may retain it — then press or tap out the stationary seat from its recess in the pump body using a blunt dowel. Clean both housings thoroughly before pressing the new stationary seat in squarely, then fit the rotating face assembly onto the shaft. Reassemble in reverse; hand-tighten the body bolts in a cross pattern. Allow sealing faces to bed in for the first few minutes of run at low backpressure before returning the pump to full duty.

Mechanical seals are precision components: face flatness is measured in microns, and aftermarket copies frequently use inferior carbon-ceramic pairings that score rapidly under pool-water chemistry. A genuine Kripsol seal matches the exact shaft diameter tolerance and spring rate specified for the Koral pump end, ensuring the correct face-contact pressure across the full operating temperature range of up to 50 °C. Fitting a non-OEM seal risks a repeat failure within a single season and, if water reaches the motor windings, a far more expensive repair.
