This is the genuine Maytronics active brush gear assembly (ASSY) for the Dolphin Ex 45 CB robotic pool cleaner. It is the complete gear set that sits within the active brush module, transmitting motor drive to the scrubbing brush roller and converting rotational force into the powered scrubbing action that agitates and lifts debris from pool floors, walls and the waterline.

The Dolphin Ex 45 CB uses a dedicated brush motor whose output is stepped through a gear train inside the active brush housing. This assembly is the gear set at the heart of that train — it meshes with the drive components on both sides of the brush shaft to spin the roller at the correct torque and speed. Without serviceable gears, the brush cannot rotate under power, reducing cleaning to passive suction alone.

This assembly is the primary replacement for the Dolphin Ex 45 CB. The active brush gear assembly format is used across a broad range of mid-to-high-end Dolphin active-brush models, with Maytronics producing gear variants for models in the CB (combined brush) dynamic range. Fit should always be confirmed against the parent model — the Ex 45 CB — before ordering.

Worn or cracked gears typically present as a grinding or clicking noise from the brush housing during a cleaning cycle, a brush that spins erratically under load or not at all despite the motor running, or visible chipping and tooth damage on inspection. Ignoring these symptoms accelerates wear on the brush motor shaft and surrounding housing components, increasing repair costs considerably.

Aftermarket gears machined to non-OEM tolerances cause uneven meshing, which accelerates wear on mating components and can lead to premature motor failure. Genuine Maytronics parts are manufactured to the exact tooth profile, pitch and material specification of the original, ensuring correct engagement with the drive train and the longest possible service life for the active brush system.
