How Glycine Works in Pool Testing

When a pool uses ozone, bromine, or chlorine dioxide alongside chlorine as a secondary disinfectant, the presence of chlorine in the water sample will interfere with the DPD-based measurement and produce an inaccurate combined reading. Adding a Glycine tablet to the sample first neutralises the free chlorine, allowing the PoolLab 1.0 to measure ozone (0.00–2.70 mg/l), bromine (0.00–13.00 mg/l), or chlorine dioxide (0.0–11.4 mg/l) in isolation. Without Glycine, the result will reflect the combined oxidant level rather than the target parameter, making correct dosing decisions impossible.

Compatibilitat

These tablets are exclusively designed for use with the Water-ID PoolLab 1.0 photometer and are not included in the photometer’s standard kit. They must always be used in combination with the appropriate DPD photometer-grade tablets (e.g. DPD No. 1 and DPD No. 3) as directed by the PoolLab 1.0 measurement procedure. Always use photometer-grade tablets — never rapid-grade tablets — to ensure measurement accuracy.
