With a nominal flow rate of 5.68 m³/h (Q3 per ISO 4064) and a maximum operating pressure of 10 bar, the Rain Bird FG100 is a wired, inline flow sensor suited to residential and light-commercial irrigation systems that demand reliable, real-time water consumption data. The 1″ female-thread connection makes it a straightforward drop-in addition to existing pipework, while the glass-filled nylon body keeps weight low and corrosion resistance high.

Flow measurement & leak detection

The FG100 uses a paddle-wheel impeller with a ceramic shaft to deliver consistent readings across both high and low flow conditions. Once installed inline, it transmits flow data directly to a compatible irrigation controller, enabling the system to detect abnormal consumption caused by broken lines, stuck heads, or slow leaks — allowing faults to be identified and addressed before they cause damage to the landscape or surrounding property.

Installation & wiring flexibility

No straight pipe run is required upstream or downstream, giving installers greater freedom in positioning the sensor within a manifold or valve box. The 1″ female-thread unions allow fast, tool-friendly connection, and the sensor wires to the controller using standard 18g irrigation cable — no specialist PE cable is needed. The sensor is also winterisation-ready: it is designed to withstand high-burst pressure blowouts and can remain in the ground year-round without removal.

Controller compatibility & smart monitoring

The FG100 sends pulse-based flow data to compatible Rain Bird controllers, including the ESP-ME3 and the ESP-LX series (LXME, LXD, IVM). When paired with an ESP-ME3 and an optional LNK2 Wi-Fi module, the Flo-Watch™ function learns the system’s normal flow profile and raises alerts for both low-flow and high-flow anomalies, with remote visibility available via the Rain Bird mobile app.
