This is the genuine Davey replacement salt and temperature probe (part no. 16168SP) for the Davey Lifeguard pool chemistry controller range. It is a dual-function sensor that continuously measures water conductivity (TDS/salinity) and water temperature, feeding both readings to the Lifeguard controller so it can protect the electrolysis cell and keep salt levels within the correct operating range. It is typically replaced when the probe delivers inaccurate readings, fails to calibrate correctly, or after extended service life.

Compatibilitat

This probe is designed for the Davey ProMatic Lifeguard (European models DPLG-15E, DPLG-25E, DPLG-35E, DPLG-25EL, DPLG-15EL) and the Davey ChloroMatic Lifeguard controller series. It is not compatible with the pH or ORP probe sockets — the salt probe and temperature probe each connect to their own dedicated sockets on the back of the Lifeguard controller unit. Always verify your controller model before ordering.

What this probe does

The Lifeguard controller reads conductivity from this probe to monitor pool salinity and trigger low-salt warnings or cut-out alarms that protect the chlorinator cell. The integrated temperature sensor allows the controller and app to display live water temperature and compensate for cold-water conductivity shifts. If the salt probe is not connected, the controller falls back to reading conductivity from within the chlorinator cell — but a dedicated probe delivers more accurate, real-time data.

Installation & calibration

The probe fits into the Davey probe and injection point housing supplied with the Lifeguard system. After installation, calibrate the salt reading using a TDS calibration solution (3,000 ppm) via the Salt Probe Menu on the controller. Installation in a pool plant room environment is straightforward, but Davey recommends the work be carried out by a qualified pool technician to ensure correct socket routing and watertight housing assembly.
